Vasilis Tigaki, Kos · Est. 1978

Our Story

Forty-seven seasons on the main road.

Our taverna opened in 1978, on what was then a quiet stretch of the Tigaki road. A single room, twelve tables, and a menu that changed with what the garden and the morning brought. Greek classics, cooked the way our family had always cooked them.

In the nineties, a wood-fired oven came home from a trip through southern Italy. Pizza joined the menu, then fresh pasta, then a handful of Mediterranean plates that felt right alongside the Greek classics. The kitchen has lived between the two ever since, cooking with tomatoes from the garden, fish from the morning's catch, and producers we have known for years.

Today the kitchen runs much the way it always has. Same oven, same suppliers, same blue door. The wine list changes, the menu shifts with the season, but the rest stays right where it was.

The Vasilis family in the kitchen.
We cook the way our family always has, with patience, and with whatever the morning brought from the garden.
